Project Management
I am responsible for delivering all system needs around supply management (CaRMA supporting applications) and the Entegra finance model information system needs. This includes managing financials, staffing, timeline and scope around the deliverables.
Current Tasks
Most days would start with a coffee and a chat with my team on topics that range from the weather to the current projects. The chats are followed by business meetings.
I meet with my customers on a daily basis. In my case, I have customers within IS&T and the business community. On a periodic basis, I meet with the senior leadership team to provide them status updates and obtain input on scoping and prioritization challenges. Within IS&T, we have interactive sessions around architectural designing over our EDW or application space,
Education and Background
I possess over fifteen years of experience in the IT industry as a Senior e-Procurement Architect, Lead BI Applications Architect, Project Manager and Applications Programmer. I specialize in front-end BI tools and designing infrastructure architecture for Hyperion applications, Arcplan’s Dashboard, secured report content delivery portal and back-end programming in SQL, along with administration for multiple strategic systems.
My education includes a Master’s degree in Computer Applications and a Bachelor’s degree in Science, both from the University of Madras.
Wow Factor
Within our team, there is a key phrase most of us find is often applicable: "There is never a dull moment here."
Point of View
Without question, the best part about working for Sodexo is the people. In my humble opinion, Sodexo is blessed with a workforce that has a diverse background. I so often come in contact with business partners who amaze me with the amount of functional knowledge and great attitude they bring to the table. My role allows me the "entrepreneurship" environment I need to manage challenges in my line of sight, while guaranteeing the right support when needed.
In my mind, technical expertise in combination with people skills sets the stage for success.
Personal Favorites
First invoicing from CaRMA system posting into our financials. It was not a challenging moment, but a memorable milestone output of many years of hard work and amazing teamwork.

Project Management
As a technical representative of the help desk, I participate in many corporate projects. Most recently is Sodexo Password Self Serve. The application was designed and built internally. I also administer the Symon digital signage and call reporting in the help desk environment.
Current Tasks
My current position is Director, Help Desk and Desktop Support. I am responsible for communications and efficiencies related to technical support and end user issue resolution. I manage technical support for the Sodexo NorAm Help Desk Technical Level 1 (outsourced) and Level 2. I also manage Desktop Support for the Buffalo corporate office and Sodexo remote sites.
The technical support and desktop support teams provide end user assistance with hardware and software troubleshooting, including “off the shelf” software, Windows operating systems, malware cleaning, Web browser configuration and all applications not specifically supported by the other help desk teams.
Education and Background
I have been with Sodexo for 19 years. I started as a clerk in Revenue Reporting and then worked for a while as a sales tax audit accountant before moving to the help desk as a technical support analyst. During my time at the help desk, I was promoted to team lead, then manager and then senior manager.

Project Management
With what I do, I have the pleasure of touching many projects: the implementation of SAP as our ERP, applications that service our internal labor, food and unit financial reporting, as well as a wide variety of customized dashboards and data warehousing tools. I have been involved in the design of three versions of our NA intranet, as well as specialized public facing sites and our collection of various country Internet sites. Branding initiatives, photography, e-learning, usability and exhibit solutions are all things I do.
Current Tasks
As Manager, Media Design, I work within the Enhancing Technology Change Team (ETC) within IS&T. I work with development teams to increase usability of our applications through usability studies and tests. UI design comprises a big part of what I do, as do marketing and special projects both in North America and globally. One large special project I am working on is our enterprise-wide Digital Signage project. A day in my life can consist of user experience testing, video shooting and editing, interface design, creating animated e-learning, product marketing and identity creation, and coding Web sites.
Other Projects Robin Has Worked On:
Food Management Systems
Labor Management
Green Team Initiatives
Education and Background
My education is a bit out of the ordinary for someone in an IT organization; Geo Physics, Art and Music have been my areas of study. My college experience was based in Southern California, having attended Mt. San Antonio College and Cal State University Fullerton. My additional education is centered around HCI, allowing me to blend both the analytical scientific side of me with the artistic. I have worked as an art and creative director, film producer, musician and ad agency/studio owner. I have created Web sites, ad campaigns, television commercials and documentaries. I have had the pleasure of always loving what I do for a living.
Wow Factor
What you like about your job/most exciting part of your job:
Two things: The people are great, as is the variety. No two days are the same for me. I am truly lucky to work in such a great organization. Our culture is focused on people, both within the organization and the people we serve, and our corporate citizenship is one that an employee can truly be proud of. Our slogan is “Making every day a better day” and honestly, that's what we do.
Mentor/Hero:
Lee Clow, Global Creative Director of Media Arts and Chief Creative Officer of TBWA Worldwide. Lee has nurtured my ability to see the world from many angles. His influence contributes to the success of my projects on a daily basis.
Point of View

Project Management
I've had the opportunity to work on several projects during my time with Sodexo. One project was the conversion to SAP. I assisted with the various SAP functional teams such as the Data Warehouse team, BI team and other miscellaneous teams to convert our mainframe batch schedule to AutoSys. This resulted in an AutoSys batch schedule that included approximately 5000 individual jobs. I was also involved in the ADP Conversion. I worked with the Labor Management team to automate over 60 interfaces between ADP and Sodexo. Additionally, I supported projects involving Labor Management and Food Management. I assisted both teams with automating batch schedules and file transfers. Moreover, I assist in handling all enterprise batch scheduling and file transfers that comprise 14,000 jobs.
Current Tasks
I currently work in the Production Control department, which provides IT operational support services in the areas of job scheduling and system monitoring. A key function of the department ensures the availability and quality of applications to meet Sodexo's business requirements. My primary duties impact the job scheduling sector. I administer and define the automation of our enterprise job schedule. I also facilitate file transfers both internally and externally and work on incident and problem resolution.
Other Projects Tom Has Worked On:
Food Management Systems
e-Procurement
Labor Management
ISO 20000 Certification Use
Education and Background
I have an Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Urban and Public Policy Studies. My previous IS&T experience was with one company, Tops Markets (a local supermarket chain), where I started as a help desk specialist, worked my way to supervisor, and ended up in the technical support department as an AIX/UNIX administrator.
Wow Factor
I love the fact that I get to work with almost every team within IS&T and AD&D, along with our customers in the financial service center in Buffalo. Our team plays a role in almost every system we provide to our customers.
Point of View
Sodexo is a great company to work for because…
I get to work for a company that cares not only about our customers, but also about its employees.
Sodexo is a great place to build a career because…
You get to work with a great team that is not only personally diverse, but also technically diverse. You get exposed to a large variety of technologies.
I would recommend Sodexo as an employer of choice because…
They care about me.

Project Management
The most recent project that I have been assigned is an Application Integration Project whose goal is to identify and plan the required data integration between our in-house applications to optimize front-line operations.
One of my favorite projects over the past ten years was the Server Virtualization initiative completed four years ago. Without going into the technical details, this project involved every specialty in North America's Infrastructure group and was a definite win for IS&T. For more information on virtualization with a Green IT Twist, see http://www.sodexocareersblog.com/2009/06/green-it-sodexo.html
Current Tasks
Sodexo's Enterprise Architecture (EA) role is a relatively new role established within the past eight months of the organization. Though many of the day-to-day particulars are still in the process of being built out, the two fundamental functions of EA at Sodexo are:
- Planning & Alignment:
- The role of planning is about deciding the types of products to build and ensuring that they align with long-term business goals.
- Ensure strategic alignment between business core processes and IS&T-offered services by providing advice and input as needed.
- Analyze product portfolio for gaps and weaknesses.
- Map Business Core Processes and strategies to technology capabilities (Foundation for Execution).
- Ensure product roadmaps continue to align with business strategies.
- Architectural Standards:
- Interface with the Architectural Teams to facilitate the creation of architectural standards that will be used as a baseline for new implementations and reinforce best practices.
- Facilitate the management of repositories related to the various architectural domains (business, data, application & technology) in order to assist with IS&T business alignment and technology gap analysis.
- Chair Architecture Review Process to review proposals and identify architectural trends.
Other Projects Chris Has Worked On:
ISO 20000 Certification Use
Deployment of Virtual Servers
Education and Background
Upon graduating from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, with a Bachelor of Mathematics degree, I embarked on a five-year journey within the Service industry that taught me the value of having a sense of urgency in taking care of the customer.
Prior to coming to Sodexo, I worked at a subsidiary of GE Capital Credit Card Services as a LAN Administrator. This was one of the most rewarding positions in my IS&T career, as I was able to directly see the positive results of applying processes and technologies to assist the end users in their day-to-day tasks.
Wow Factor
The most exhilarating (and scariest) aspect of my position is building something from the ground up. Enterprise architecture represents a strategic shift for our IS&T organization and for many of the processes that reflect how we operate on a day-to-day basis.
I get to apply all of the tools that I have learned through my career (customer service, processes, technical, project management) while learning a completely new set (EA methodologies and best practices) to assist in solving the long-term challenges of the organization.
Point of View
Sodexo is a great company to work for because…
The people. It's that simple. No matter how crazy or hectic it becomes around here, I see a group of people who are willing to work together to help our customers.
Sodexo is a great place to build a career because…
I started at Sodexo eight years ago as a Sr. LAN Administrator. Over this time, I have been involved in more projects, technologies and initiatives than I can remember. However, these experiences have given me the opportunity to grow, not only personally, but professionally as well.
I would recommend Sodexo as an employer of choice because…
Sodexo is a company that strives to embrace the diversity of its team members and the communities it operates in. This is reflected in its commitment to supporting the various multicultural Network Groups within and external to the company.
Prior to Sodexo, I would not have believed in this being a competitive advantage, but after seeing the environment that it fosters, it is the “secret sauce” that separates us from our competitors.
